Our Story

WE BUILT THE TOOL
WE WISHED EXISTED.

TRW was born from frustration. After years of watching businesses struggle with tax reporting chaos, we decided to fix it.

THE PROBLEM WE SAW

In 2019, our founders were running a boutique accounting firm in London. Every tax season was the same story: late nights, spreadsheet chaos, version control nightmares, and stressed-out clients missing deadlines.

They tried every tool on the market. Some handled data well but had terrible interfaces. Others looked nice but couldn't handle the complexity of real UK tax requirements. Most were built for American businesses and didn't understand MTD, VAT schemes, or Corporation Tax.

So they built TRW. A platform designed from the ground up for UK businesses, by people who actually understand UK tax reporting.

COMPANY TIMELINE

2019

TRW founded in London. First prototype built.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our core values guide every decision we make, from product features to customer support.

ACCURACY IS

YOUR SUCCESS
= OUR SUCCESS

We don't just sell software and disappear. We partner with you to make sure TRW actually works for your business. Our support team includes former accountants who understand your challenges firsthand.

NEVER STOP
IMPROVING

Tax laws change. Technology evolves. Customer needs shift. We ship updates every week based on user feedback, regulatory changes, and new opportunities to save you time. The TRW you use today will be better tomorrow.

4. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING

Under UK GDPR, we must have a valid legal basis for processing your personal data. The legal bases we rely on are:

4.1 Performance of Contract (Article 6(1)(b))

Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are party, or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract. This includes creating and managing your account, providing access to our tax reporting platform, processing your financial data to generate reports, submitting tax returns to HMRC on your behalf, processing subscription payments, and providing customer support.

4.2 Legal Obligation (Article 6(1)(c))

Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject. Processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, except where such interests are overridden by your interests or fundamental rights. Our legitimate interests include improving and developing our Services and user experience, ensuring network and information security, preventing fraud and protecting against security threats, conducting business analytics and market research, administering our business and operational processes, and enforcing our terms of service and legal rights. We conduct legitimate interest assessments (LIAs) to balance our interests against your rights, and copies of these assessments are available upon request.

4.4 Consent (Article 6(1)(a))

Where none of the above legal bases apply, we will obtain your explicit consent before processing your personal data. This applies to sending marketing communications and promotional materials, using non-essential cookies and similar tracking technologies, processing special category data where required, and sharing your data with third parties for their marketing purposes. Where we rely on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe mechanisms provided. Last updated: August 21, 2025 | Effective Date: September 1, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how TRW Limited, trading as Tax Reporting Workflow ("TRW", "we", "us", or "our"), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at www.trwreport.com, use our cloud-based tax reporting platform, or interact with our mobile applications (collectively, the "Services").

This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide information to website owners, and enable certain features and functionality.

Cookies can be categorised by their lifespan:

  • Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser. They enable core functionality like maintaining your login session.
  • Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. They help us remember your preferences and recognise you on return visits.

Cookies can also be categorised by who sets them:

  • First-Party Cookies: Set directly by TRW when you visit our Services.
  • Third-Party Cookies: Set by external services we use, such as analytics or marketing platforms.

2. SIMILAR TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies:

Web Beacons (Pixel Tags)

Small transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to track page views, email opens, and other engagement metrics.

Local Storage

HTML5 local storage allows websites to store data locally within your browser. Unlike cookies, this data is not automatically sent to the server with each request.

Session Storage

Similar to local storage but data is cleared when the browser tab is closed. Used for temporary data during your session.

5. DO NOT TRACK SIGNALS

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that they not track your browsing activity. Currently, there is no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. As such, our Services do not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your cookie preferences using the methods described above, and we respect all cookie preference choices made through our consent banner.
